This low-FODMAP Orange Cream Smoothie is a low-FODMAP version of the orange julius you used to love as a kid!  This low-FODMAP smoothie can be lightened up by skipping the coconut cream, or turned into a low-FODMAP orange cream cocktail with a shot of vodka.  Enjoy this low-FODMAP orange cream smoothie at the poolside this summer. It is sunshiney and delicious!

Low-FODMAP Orange Cream Smoothie; Gluten-free, Vegan

Although this recipe has not been tested, a single serving should be low-FODMAP based on the ingredients

Servings 1-2

Prep time 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (about 1-2 oranges)
  • 1/4 cup coconut cream (canned, from top of coconut milk)
  • 4 tablespoons powdered/confectioners sugar (more or less to taste)
    • Note: tolerance for sugar varies, limit amount of added sugar if it triggers your symptoms
    • Can also use low-FODMAP artificial sweetener of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon guar gum (optional, thickens the smoothie very nicely)
  • 1-2 teaspoons orange extract or orange oil (depending on how potent yours is)
  • 1/2 cup low-FODMAP milk (lactose-free, or your favorite almond milk for vegan version)
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • For a low-FODMAP cocktail:  Add 1 ounce vodka or whiskey per serving

Directions

  • Combine all ingredients in blender and blend on high about 1 minute
  • Garnish with orange peel
  • Super creamy and low-FODMAP delicious!

  1. I am a minor, and have a condition that I can’t drink Vodka or Whiskey even when I am of legal age to drink, so I have to leave that out.
